“Do not turn to mediums or oracles nor seek them out…” (Leviticus 19:31)                                               LCA_Transparent-1

The Biblical Hebrew word for mediums is “ovot” whose root means to want or desire. The word for mediums is “yidonim” which has the connotation of knowledge. Rav Simcha Bunim of Peshischa suggested that the verse is hinting to the idea that it isn’t enough to just know how to live properly or desire to do so. Good intentions don’t accomplish much. The bottom line are the actions that flow from our knowledge and desires.

Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom / Gut Shabbos :-)
