The Tetragrammaton is the special four-letter Name for God found in the Torah. This video explores some of the profound meaning and significance of this holy Name. According to the Oral Torah, we are not to pronounce this Name and utter it as it is written, rather, it is pronounced during prayer and Torah reading as Adonoi (Master). There were several exceptions to this general rule where the Ineffable Name was pronounced in the Holy Temple. This lecture discusses some of the possible reasons for why we are forbidden, under normal circumstances, from pronouncing this Name.
