A DIVINE MESSIAH? Debunking a Missionary Proof with Rabbi Michael Skobac
Christian missionaries face an incredibly uphill battle.
They are committed to spreading beliefs that are both logically problematic and that run counter to the Hebrew scriptures. They labour to try and squeeze square pegs into round holes. But because they are committed to the proposition that the Jewish Bible anticipates the doctrines of Christianity – they are forced to search in vain for “evidence” that doesn’t exist.
Unfortunately, this often propels them to misread and mangle that actual meaning of the Biblical text.
In this video, Rabbi Michael Skobac focuses on one such example from Isaiah 45:11. Some missionaries have sought to employ this passage as indicative of a Divine messiah. Sadly, their distortion of this text creates that impression that they were actually seeking to misunderstand the Biblical text.
In this video lecture, Rabbi Skobac shows how their agenda-driven approach to the Bible leads to ignoring the grammar, syntax and context of the verse. What can account for such sloppy understanding? We suggest that it stems less from an attempt to truly understand the scripture and more from a desire to foster confusion in order to promote doctrinal beliefs, such as the Trinity, that have no real foundation in the Hebrew scriptures.
